Benicia Election Results – Nov. 15, 2016, 5pm

Solano County seal (400x400)The Solano County Registrar of Voters issued a day’s end report at 5:04pm today, showing that all Benicia races remain as they were on election night.

Mayor Elizabeth Patterson‘s lead increased by another 14 votes after today’s counting.  Her margin of victory over challenger Mark Hughes has increased from 109 votes early on Wednesday morning, to 280 as of Tuesday evening Nov 15.  Hughes phoned Mayor Patterson on Wednesday to concede the election.

City Councilmember-elect Steve Young‘s lead over Tom Campbell increased by 4 votes today and his lead over Christina Strawbridge increased by 38. Young remains the top vote-getter, now by a margin of 231 votes over Campbell and 755 votes over Strawbridge. Traditionally in Benicia, the Council candidate with the most votes becomes Vice Mayor until the next election cycle. Congratulations, Vice-mayor-elect Young!

Solano County Supervisor-elect Monica Brown also extended her lead over Mike Ioakimedes – by 108 votes, increasing her margin of victory to nearly 3000 votes (17,407 Brown to 14,431 Ioakimedes).

The County website shows additional as yet uncounted ballots: Vote-by-Mail less than 200, and Provisionals est. 12,544. A chart shows that Benicia has 751 provisional ballots to be counted. We will keep you posted on further updates
