COVID city-by-city in Solano County – recent surprising increases

By Roger Straw. March 20, 2021

Benicia, Rio Vista and Unincorporated Areas showing greatest recent % rise in cases

Solano County reports updated COVID-19 data by city every weekday evening around 4pm.  As Solano and the Bay Area move to relax health restrictions and re-open, a comparison shows that the virus is still spreading, and is actually on the increase.

Perhaps one of the best ways to show the current spread is to compare data from each of Solano’s seven cities over the past two weeks.

The Friday March 5 and Friday March 19 City data shows trouble in two of Solano’s smallest cities, Benicia and Rio Vista, and in “Unincorporated Areas”.  Our largest cities, Vallejo, Fairfield and Vacaville also show a rise in percentage gain, but far lower than our small cities.  Dixon is the exception – a small city with the smallest increase among the seven cities. In the chart above, Benicia saw 20 new cases over 14 days, a 2.3% increase.  Tiny Rio Vista saw 14 new cases, a 4.2% increase.  And Unincorporated Areas, which has up to now had one of the lowest infection rates, saw 6 new cases, a whopping 6.5% increase.  Fairfield was our only large city to come close to these numbers, with a 1.8% increase.

Friends – the virus is still on the move.  Stay safe, get vaccinated, wear a mask and stay 6 feet apart when in enclosed areas!
